Bugatti working on more-powerful Veyron Grand Sport?

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport

If there's anything the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport doesn't need, it's more power, right? After all, it's 1,001 horsepower is sufficient to push the convertible to speeds of 224 miles per hour with the top removed, or an astonishing 252 mph with the polycarbonate hard top firmly affixed above the occupants heads. Fast enough, right?

Wrong. Anyone who's interested in purchasing a Veyron of their very own, be it a convertible or hardtop, will surely want the highest-spec model they can get their hands on, which is why Bugatti invented the Veyron Super Sport.

The Bug SS has had its four turbochargers dialed up to 11 and its output therefore increased to 1,200 horsepower. In the process, Bugatti set a new Guinness World Record as the fastest production car in existence at 267.81 mph.

Problem is, the Super Sport has a specially designed aerodynamics package and cannot simply be converted into a convertible by chopping off its top. That said, a higher-performing droptop is reportedly under consideration. It would have more than a thousand horsepower but less than the 1,200 of the SS.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Super Sport: for those times when too much is just enough.
