Mitsubishi Concept Global Small

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show may still be over a month and a half away, but that isn't stopping Mitsubishi from letting us all in on what the company is planning on bringing to the party. While the automaker intends to show off a total of nine different vehicles (mostly made up of things we've already seen), the most exciting of that gaggle is the Concept Global Small. Aside from the Yoda-inspired naming structure, the vehicle should give the world an inkling into what we can expect from the next small car from Mitsubishi. This new compact vehicle is slated to enter production in 2012.

Mitsubishi says that the Concept Global Small is imbued with the notions of compact size, affordability and high fuel-efficiency. To that end, the car that will bow in Geneva will boast a 1.0 or 1.2-liter gasoline engine with a regenerative braking system, a stop-start mechanism to conserve fuel and a thrifty CVT gearbox. In addition, the Japanese automaker says that the concept has been trimmed of as much weight as possible and wears bodywork penned to be extremely aerodynamic. Hit the jump for the press release.
